If you are anything like me, you now spend a couple of hours on the internet every day and maybe 20 minutes or so reading a book. It used to be the other way around. The thing is, the internet often overwhelms me and I come away from it feeling less than relaxed. A book on the other hand is a retreat, a challenge, a place to rest and I always come away from one rejuvenated and calm.
So this week I am going to focus on some great books that have changed my thinking, my feeling and even my fundamental values. Some of them even changed my life. Please feel free to share your favorite books and I will post them. You might just win a free coaching session!

The very first ‘spiritual’ book I ever read was ‘Out on a limb’ by Shirley Maclaine. It was in a library sale in Lower Hutt in New Zealand. We had just moved there and I was utterly miserable. I hated living there, I hated working there and I simply didn’t want to be there. I rarely use the word ‘hate’ but I did! This book introduced me to so many aspects of self-awareness,meditation, creating your own reality and many other concepts. Shirley has been much maligned over her life but she is openly honest and transparent about how she chooses to live her life and her amazing journey. She simply gave me hope and courage to be me and to work more at being me. I still love her philosophy of life.
Reviews of this book include the following…
“A stunningly honest, engrossing account of an intimate journey inward. Shirley MacLaine’s discovery of a new sense of purpose, joy, energy, and love will touch and astonish you.”–Literary Guild Magazine.
“An immensely appealing woman-bright, open, straightforward, sincere.”–The New York Daily News – Review
It started me on a journey that I know I will never finish – and that is so OK!
Coaching question – How open are you to the ideas and concepts in books that challenge you?
Tip 32: Live your life according to choice – choose carefully what you do and how you do it every day and and in every way.

Thanks for your nice instructions within the post, it’s certainly made it simpler for my family!
